KU holds seminar on World Environment Day | KNO

Srinagar, June 5 (KNO) : Kashmir University’s Department of Environmental Science and Centre of Research for Development (CORD) organised a daylong seminar on Tuesday to mark the World Environment Day-2018.

The theme of the seminar was: ‘Beat the plastic pollution—if you cannot reuse it, refuse it.’ Prof RC Gupta from the Punjabi University Patialia delivered the lead lecture, while students and research scholars made oral and poster presentations on the theme.

The three best presentations were awarded with cash prize of Rs 2500, Rs 2000 and Rs 1500 respectively. Prof Azra Nahaid Kamili, convener of the workshop, highlighted aims and objectives of the seminar, while Dr Sami Ullah Bhat, senior Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Science gave the introductory remarks. Prof MS Bhat, Dean School of Earth and Environmental Sciences delivered the presidential address. At least 12 oral and 18 poster presentations were made during the technical sessions.
